The story takes place in a world similar to the Middle Ages in Europe, where countries fought against each other for years. Each country raised large military equipment, and mercenaries became a popular industry. The lives of ordinary civilians were very poor. In this war-torn world, there are not only human wars, but also monsters known as "apostles". And the protagonist of this story, Gus, became the master of the "Apostles" - the Hand of God - because his close friend Griffith sold his soul to the devil. He sacrificed his former comrade mercenary group, the "Eagle Group," to the "Apostles" and brutally killed them. Gus, who survived this massacre, became the "Black Swordsman" - a cursed desperate swordsman who had to resist the pursuit of the "Apostles" in order to seek revenge against Griffith.
